Summary:
The journey that began in
top-rated, best-selling Bright Side, continues …
This is the story of Gus.
Losing himself.
Finding himself.
And healing along the way.
“ … but the honest-to-God truth is I don’t even know how to
function anymore. Bright Side wasn’t only my best friend; she was like my other
half … the other half of my brain, the other half of my conscience, the other
half of my sense of humor, the other half of my creativity, the other half of
my heart. How do you go back to doing what you did before, when half of you is
gone forever?”
My Thoughts:
This book was full of emotion for me because I can still remember reading Bright Side like it was yesterday. Almost every time that Brightside was mentioned or have flash backs I would get teary eyed. Epically when Gus says “Bright Side wasn’t only my best friend; she was like my other half… the other half of my heart. How do you go back to doing what you did before, when half of you is gone forever?”
I was hoping that Gus would have been the one to end up with Kate because Gus without Kate… he just wasn’t the same Gus. He was completely lost without her. Going back out on his tour with his band it just wasn’t the same, he gets caught up in some stuff that wasn’t a good situation.
He meets Scout and I don’t think it could have been more of a perfect time for him. At first Scout couldn’t be bothered with him and there way of communicating was though sticky notes and that’s the most adorable thing ever. Considering how she wasn’t to fond of him to begin with. She thought that he was an asshole. But to see them come together and see how Gus was there for her when she needed it due to her having a horrible ex. To see Gus do the things that he did for her and her cousin, was beautiful.
Kim writes such emotional stories that I know I won’t forget because her characters rememberable not just because they made me cry but because of the story that was portrayed with him.
