Summary:

Meet Oakley Ford-teen celebrity, renowned pop star, child of famous movie stars, hottie with millions of fangirls… and restless troublemaker. On the surface he has it all, but with his home life disintegrating, his music well suddenly running dry, and the tabloids having a field day over his outrageous exploits, Oakley’s team decides it’s time for an intervention. The result: an image overhaul, complete with a fake girlfriend meant to show the world he’s settled down.

Enter seventeen-year-old Vaughn Bennett-devoted sister, part-time waitress, the definition of “normal.” Under ordinary circumstances she’d never have taken this gig, but with her family strapped for cash, she doesn’t have much of a choice. And for the money Oakley’s team is paying her, she figures she can put up with outlandish Hollywood parties and a team of publicists watching her every move. So what if she thinks Oakley’s a shallow, self-centered jerk? It’s not like they’re going to fall for each other in real life…right?

My Thoughts:

Before my review, I want to add if you haven’t seen this in one my reviews before then I’m going to say it again. I absolutely love when a book has an artist in it. It doesn’t matter if there a painter, sculptor, music artist etc. any type of artist and I’m all in. I think that books with artists makes the books more interesting because they have that artist edge added in to the story an I love that. I can’t get enough of them. Onward to my review.

This if the first one that I have read by this author and I absolutely loved it. This book follows a hot rock star named Oakley and a beautiful girl named Vaughan. Normally these two wouldn’t be caught dead in the same room but since Oakley must repair his image, they need to find a “normal” girl to do that a Vaughan is the perfect girl for the job. They first meet, and they need to sign some contracts (NA’s) so that the PR plan doesn’t all go to hell and a hand basket.

Vaughan is at first a little iffy on the situation because she has a boyfriend named W (I agree with Oak on this one when he says what kind of name is that) and she didn’t want to be caught in a situation where it would look bad and he get mat at her although I don’t consider this a love triangle even though I love those. As the story goes on, we get to see the true colours of W and I knew from the beginning that I wasn’t going to like him, and I was right. He turned out to be a complete asshat

First meeting Oak you think that he is a spoiled rich kid who comes from famous parents. That’s completely true but also completely wrong that the same time. As the story gets told we see the walls that he has out up over the years finally come down when he and Vaughan hang out more and more.

These two don’t start off the greatest in their “fake” relationship. This was a slow burn relationship which I thought fit the story perfectly because if it was an insta love one, I don’t think I would have enjoyed the story as much as I did.

There are a few moments in this story when I just wanted to reach into the book and shake Oak to just kiss Vaughan but when the first kiss actually did happen, I was excited for the rest of the story because I knew in that moment that this was going to be a good one.

I was also able to read this book in one sitting because I just couldn’t get enough of Oak and Vaughan. One of the things that I just adored about this was when Oak sang her an apology because he had messed up. I mean how sweet is that. I think that was the turning point in the best way possible for them.
