Summary:

District City is full of monsters. Not the kind that appear particularly vile from the outside. The kind who murder innocent people for no apparent reason. Abandoned houses are haunted by wayward spirits. Leaders of rival Colors clash over the secrets of a brutal past.

After the Plague thinned out the population, Rin Morana figured people would have stopped killing each other. No such luck. Her parents disappeared, and now she is set to take over as the new Lady Morana, head of the Green faction. To be a leader, Rin must contend with her relationship to her rival, Lady Amaya, as well as her own history of violence.

A series of riddles take Amaya Verity out of her isolated room in the Blue compound and into the hidden spaces of the City. Running away from captivity, Amaya takes shelter with Rin at the old Sydis house. There she meets two young men with demons of their own to contend with and abilities to match. Alan who is hiding out from his abusive ex, and Kazuki who might be the only person in the City that remembers the events of the Plague.

As they dig deeper, Amaya and Rin must decide whether to fight monsters or become them.

My Thoughts:

this is the first book that I have read by this author and I did enjoy the book to a point, but I did have some issues with it. I did like how it was a fast-paced book and grabbed my attention right away. On the other hand, I couldn’t tell what the plot of the story was. I felt like it wasn’t told the right way. It was just all jumbled, that’s why I was confused reading it.

Maybe some one else would have a better time reading it, just this one wasn’t for me.

Summary:

A teenage boy struggles with depression after losing his best friend in a car accident. The ghost of a dead girl becomes his confidant as he navigates the dangerous social waters of high school. A newfound interest in music win him a circle of friends, but his assumptions and prejudices are challenged after a car accident of his own leave his new love interest on the brink of death with an enemy for company.

My Thoughts:

Korrian is struggling with the passing of his friend, since then he has been having some trouble with school. He’s also getting picked on by some bullies at school. One day he gets suspended from school for fighting.

This book is one that deals with a lot of teens issues and I think that’s what had drawn me to the story in the first place. There is talks of guilt and depression also the other emotions that go along with that.

I think this book is one that everyone should read because it is a great book, but also because of how real it had felt. It is a very reverent book.

Charlie might be the most interesting person you meet this year. Why don’t you find out?

My Thoughts:

The synopsis of the book sounded amazing, I have read books that have dealt with synesthesia and have been blown away by those books. So when I read that the main character was able to see colors around people after an accident I knew I had to read the book. but…

While I was reading this I was having a hard time connecting to it. I was really hoping that I was going to love it because it sounded so unique. I got to about 50% and decided to stop because I just couldn’t get into it. I know that I got to half way but I just couldn’t read the last half.

The story in the beginning did seem a little slow. I didn’t think that it was going to go anywhere. I felt like it was lacking something more.

However, the asylum isn’t going to give up easily, and Peyton will not only need to save herself from the darkness that seems hell bent on keeping her locked inside but figure a way out of the building before it’s too late…

My Thoughts:

While reading this I got goosebumps. Payton is a recovering alcoholic, She continues to go to AA meetings this meeting how ever is the most important because she is now a year sober. While at the church she is visited by a vicar that recently passed away and didn’t want to leave. It was a quick an easy job unlike the one that she has at the asylum. While there she gets into some pretty tough situations. I’m happy that Jake came an rescued her.
I can’t wait for the last book in the series.
