And he was a breath of fresh air in my otherwise extremely dull life”

What if the missing person is your missing piece?

Rose has always played by the rules – now it’s time to break them.

Life’s easier when you stay away from other people. Rose Valentine knows that. But some people are impossible to ignore. Take Theo Lockhart. He’s handsome, funny and beyond intriguing. He’s a mystery; one that Rose dreams of solving.

Then one night the mystery deepens. Theo turns up on Rose’s doorstep, desperate to hide out at her house. He’s keeping secrets, and Rose has a million questions. Not least – why did he choose to run to her?

If Rose lets him in, she’ll be going against everything she holds true. It’s reckless, risky – and definitely not in the rulebook. But Theo makes Rose long to break the rules After a whirlwind week of brat-pack movies, midnight snacks and non-stop chat, where do Rose and Theo go from here?

My Thoughts:

I really enjoyed this book. It’s Rachel’s debut novel. It’s a very cute quick read.

Theo and Rose’s story is unique because Theo is a runaway and ends up at Rose’s door. He asks for her to help him. In doing so she keeps him in her room.

Rose is a girl that’s in high school that has absent parents who leave her to take care of her self because there always away for work. Theo is a mysterious guy in her class and to Rose and she want to get to know him more.

I enjoyed the way that these two came together. Although I wish there was more backstory to them. I felt like that was lacking a little.

Together they must unlock the truth of his situation, and with time running out, their bond becomes Martin’s best shot at waking back up to the life he’s left behind

My Thoughts:

This is a debut novel for Bridget and I think she did a fantastic job.
This book follows Martin and Petra who meet at there high school grad for the first time because they end up sitting together. There happens to be a tragedy that happens on graduation that pulls them closer together. I did end up reading this book in one sitting. This story has everything every emotion imaginable. An by the end your heart is put back together aside from the emotional ride you go on to get there.
Petra is smart and caring person. Martin is the funny guy he’s always trying to make Petra laugh.
I really loved the Back to The Future references. It’s one of my favourite movies.

New Review: Just Julian

Title: Just Julian

Author: Markus Harwood- Jones

Page Count: 168

Published: February 2018

Genre: LGBTQ+

Rating: 2/5

Summary:

Nineteen-year-old Julian doesn’t see any point to life. After years of bullying at school, he is so depressed that his single mother must stay home from work to care for him, and the only outlet for his feelings is his artwork. He sees a glimmer of hope after meeting the similarly out-of-place Romeo at a party and sharing a kiss with him. But Romeo has always identified as straight — and he hangs out with a group of guys who hurt Julian’s friend Paris and harassed his cousin Ty.
But Julian can’t deny his attraction to Romeo, who is confused about his feelings and embarrassed by his past behaviour. As the two begin to fall in love, Julian finds strength he never knew he had, coming out from hiding behind his paintings and brokering peace between Romeo and Ty. But Romeo’s old friends come after the couple, resulting in a vicious fight that puts both Julian and Romeo in the hospital. With the encouragement of Mrs. Duke, Paris’s mother and Romeo’s vice-principal, the two boys decide to take a stand for their right for respect.

My Thoughts:

I had read this book after reading “Romeo for real” and i found this book to be a little more enjoyable then the first one. I really like the cover.
I think that these to books should be combined as one. To make it a duel POV instead of having it has two books.
I felt like this had a lot of potential but it fell flat.

New Review: Romeo for Real

Title: Romeo For Real

Author: Markus Harwood- Jones

Page Count: 168

Published: February 2018

Genre: LGBTQ+

Rating: 1.5/5

Summary:

On the surface, Romeo has it all: success on the basketball court, a group of good friends, the companionship of the beautiful Rosie. Deep down, he knows something is wrong: All he feels for Rosie is friendship, and all he feels for his friends’ intolerance is guilt. Everything changes when he meets the openly gay Julian at a party and finds himself sharing a kiss with him. In spite of their obvious attraction, Romeo now feels less sure of himself than ever, and leaves without even telling Julian his name.
With Rosie’s support, Romeo begins exploring his sexuality — and ends up running into Julian again. Realizing how little he knows about other sexual orientations and gender identities, Romeo begins to see the world in a whole new light, and he and Julian begin to fall in love. But his homophobic friends and family can’t accept him as gay. After a violent confrontation with one of his old friends, Romeo becomes determined to prove that his love for Julian is real and right.

My Thoughts:

I was intrigued with this book because I love Romeo and Juliet’s story. Then again who doesn’t? When I noticed that it was going to be a LGBTQ+ book I was even more interested in reading it. Buuuuut.
I read this book in one sitting an that was easy considering it was only 168 pages. I felt like there was a lot missing from the story. Like it was to short, it should have maybe had a few more pages? Chapters? Epilogue?
I didn’t really connect with this book. I felt like something was lacking. I didn’t get the chemistry that they are supposed to have. I felt like Romeo and Julian’s relationship went a little to fast imo.
I’m giving this book 1.5/5 stars

New Review: Professional Liar

Title: Professional Liar

Author: Monica Corwin

Page Count: 169

Published: April 2018

Genre: Romance

Rating: 4/5

Summary:

My sister Bianca and I have two rules governing the dispensation of our trust funds. One. I get married first. Two. She gets married second. Neither of us will see a penny until we are both “properly cared for.” My father had a terrible sense of humor. I turn to the only man who can help me. Even when the last time I saw him he claimed my virginity. Even when I love him as much as I loathe him.Even when he’s all wrong. Liar. Thief. Killer. Those are just a few words whispered about him in back alleys. To me he’s Pierce, to everyone else, he’s Pierson St. James, local mobster and second in charge of the infamous Wild Dogs. He may be disreputable, but desperation calls for extreme measures. On my 18th birthday, he promised to marry me, signed in blood. Now I’m going to hold him to that promise. And we are both going to regret it. This isn’t your high school Shakespeare…and you’ve never read The Taming of the Shrew like this.

My Thoughts:

This is the first book that I have read by Monica and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This is also the first time that I have read a Shakespeare retelling.
This book may only be 169 pages but don’t let that discourage you. The romance between Pierce and Kat is definitely undeniable. It’s hot an steamy. Leaving you wanting more.
Kat is a strong an amazing heroine lead. While Pierce is some who has a lot of tattoos and doesn’t hide his emotions. I loved the love/hate relationship that they have.
