Summary:

“He was reckless. He was exciting. He was Theo.
And he was a breath of fresh air in my otherwise extremely dull life”

What if the missing person is your missing piece?

Rose has always played by the rules – now it’s time to break them.

Life’s easier when you stay away from other people. Rose Valentine knows that. But some people are impossible to ignore. Take Theo Lockhart. He’s handsome, funny and beyond intriguing. He’s a mystery; one that Rose dreams of solving.

Then one night the mystery deepens. Theo turns up on Rose’s doorstep, desperate to hide out at her house. He’s keeping secrets, and Rose has a million questions. Not least – why did he choose to run to her?

If Rose lets him in, she’ll be going against everything she holds true. It’s reckless, risky – and definitely not in the rulebook. But Theo makes Rose long to break the rules After a whirlwind week of brat-pack movies, midnight snacks and non-stop chat, where do Rose and Theo go from here?

My Thoughts:

I really enjoyed this book. It’s Rachel’s debut novel. It’s a very cute quick read.

Theo and Rose’s story is unique because Theo is a runaway and ends up at Rose’s door. He asks for her to help him. In doing so she keeps him in her room.

Rose is a girl that’s in high school that has absent parents who leave her to take care of her self because there always away for work. Theo is a mysterious guy in her class and to Rose and she want to get to know him more.

I enjoyed the way that these two came together. Although I wish there was more backstory to them. I felt like that was lacking a little.

After months of living under the radar, Tessa emerges from hiding, forced to face the deadly consequences of her past. But in the interrogation room, answers only lead to more questions in the pulse-pounding conclusion to the Follow Me Back duology.

My Thoughts:
After I had finished this book, I didn’t know that there was another one in the series. They may or may not affect my review. With that being said let me start my review.

This book was really interesting. I haven’t read anything like it. I’m going to have to go back an read the first one now to get the full affect of Tessa and Eric’s story.

Tessa and Eric both have interesting attributes about them. Tessa has Agoraphobia and Eric is a pop star. These two characters together make an amazing pair.

This book deals with some major issues like mental health, bullying and much more. It’s all relevant to today and I loved that about this book.

I loved that this book had a happy ending. Kinda hoped for more but it did do It justice.

Title: The Last Summer of the Garrett Girls

Author: Jessica Spotswood

Page count: 320

Publisher: Sourcebooks Fire

Genre: Teenager

Received: Netgalley

Purchase: Amazon B&N

Rating: 3.5/5

Summary:

One summer will challenge everything the Garrett sisters thought they knew about themselves—and each other.

Kat lands the lead in the community theater’s summer play, but the drama spills offstage when her ex and his new girlfriend are cast too. Can she get revenge by staging a new romance of her own?

Bea and her boyfriend are heading off to college together in the fall, just like they planned when they started dating. But Bea isn’t sure she wants the same things as when she was thirteen…

Vi has a crush on the girl next door. It makes her happy and nervous, but Cece has a boyfriend…so it’s not like her feelings could ever be reciprocated, right?

As the oldest, Des shoulders a lot of responsibility for her family and their independent bookstore. Except it’s hard to dream big when she’s so busy taking care of everyone else

My Thoughts:

This is the first book that I have read by this author, an I have to say that I really enjoyed it.

We get to meet Kat, Bea, Des and Vi. They go to live with there Grandma after a tragic accident happens with there parents. They get to run a book store ( what an amazing job) since it’s the last summer they will be spending together. There are multiple POVs and some people may not like that. I really enjoyed getting to know the different aspects of the girls. Jessica does a wonderful job at executing the girls lives.

Vi is 15 an I’d say the most adorable girl ever!

Des is 19 she is the “mother” she takes care of the girls.

Bea is 18 and getting ready to go off to collage wit her boyfriend. She’s got a job at a local newspaper. She annoys at a few parts but who doesn’t have an annoying sibling. Other than that I loved her story.

Kat is 16 and very sassy. She’s not afraid to speak her mind and let you know what she’s thinking.

I loved how diverse this book was and how relevant it was. I loved how it reminded me of Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants/ Gilmore Girls.

Can Dee and her newly formed posse, the Death Row Breakfast Club, prove she’s innocent before she ends up wrongfully murdered for the world to see? Or will The Postman’s cast of executioners kill them off one by one?

My Thoughts:

This was the first book that i have read by this author and WOW.
When i read the synopisis of this book it really intrigued me to want to read it. I don’t really read many thrillers but there was something about this one that i wanted too read.
It was a fast paced book i couldn’t put it down. I needed to know what was going to happen. there was some twists and turns that didnt see coming.
Alcatraz 2.0 is where criminals are sent to be hunted and killed, rather just being sent to prison. They are then given a constume to wear so that that people at home can watch an see what happens. It’s kind of like Hunger games/Big Brother.
I was suprised to know that this book was part of Disney. Some parts of it was really gruesome for Disney imo.
Aside from the gore I think that this one your going to want to read.

New Review: Just Julian

Title: Just Julian

Author: Markus Harwood- Jones

Page Count: 168

Published: February 2018

Genre: LGBTQ+

Rating: 2/5

Summary:

Nineteen-year-old Julian doesn’t see any point to life. After years of bullying at school, he is so depressed that his single mother must stay home from work to care for him, and the only outlet for his feelings is his artwork. He sees a glimmer of hope after meeting the similarly out-of-place Romeo at a party and sharing a kiss with him. But Romeo has always identified as straight — and he hangs out with a group of guys who hurt Julian’s friend Paris and harassed his cousin Ty.
But Julian can’t deny his attraction to Romeo, who is confused about his feelings and embarrassed by his past behaviour. As the two begin to fall in love, Julian finds strength he never knew he had, coming out from hiding behind his paintings and brokering peace between Romeo and Ty. But Romeo’s old friends come after the couple, resulting in a vicious fight that puts both Julian and Romeo in the hospital. With the encouragement of Mrs. Duke, Paris’s mother and Romeo’s vice-principal, the two boys decide to take a stand for their right for respect.

My Thoughts:

I had read this book after reading “Romeo for real” and i found this book to be a little more enjoyable then the first one. I really like the cover.
I think that these to books should be combined as one. To make it a duel POV instead of having it has two books.
I felt like this had a lot of potential but it fell flat.
