A YA feminist mash up inspired by The Lost Boys and The Craft.

It’s 1987 and unfortunately it’s not all Madonna and cherry lip balm. Mayhem Brayburn has always known there was something off about her and her mother, Roxy. Maybe it has to do with Roxy’s constant physical pain, or maybe with Mayhem’s own irresistible pull to water. Either way, she knows they aren’t like everyone else. But when May’s stepfather finally goes too far, Roxy and Mayhem flee to Santa Maria, California, the coastal beach town that holds the answers to all of Mayhem’s questions about who her mother is, her estranged family, and the mysteries of her own self. There she meets the kids who live with her aunt, and it opens the door to the magic that runs through the female lineage in her family, the very magic Mayhem is next in line to inherit and which will change her life for good. But when she gets wrapped up in the search for the man who has been kidnapping girls from the beach, her life takes another dangerous turn and she is forced to face the price of vigilante justice and to ask herself whether revenge is worth the cost.

From the acclaimed author of This Raging Light and But Then I Came Back, Estelle Laure offers a riveting and complex story with magical elements about a a family of women contending with what appears to be an irreversible destiny, taking control and saying when enough is enough.

Ooook so, I get the vison with what the author wanted to have with the book but it just wasn’t done right. This was a DNF at 45%, I just couldn’t make it any further.

Isabella

I’ve lied to those I love the most.

I’m the keeper of all secrets, but I’ve broken that trust. I don’t know if they’ll ever forgive me, but what I’ve done, I did out of love and loyalty.

To my family. To my mate.

To the little one, I dream of every night . . .

Xadiel

Everyone has secrets.

Some are harder to hide than others, and yet, I see the strain in her eyes. I feel the hopelessness in her soul but have kept my promise to let fate run its course. Even when the animal within demands to take control—to fight and be her protector—when it’s against herself she needs saving from.

But then she disappears. Is taken.

I’M A BEAST.

UNTAMED.

WILD.

And I’m coming for what is mine.

For me, this book sadly was a DNF at about 65%. I just couldn’t get into the story it was a little slow which is disappointing because I usually like these types of books. I will have to come back to this book in the near future and see if I still feel the same way.

The bad boys and girls of Winterland are back for the final battle, and this fight isn’t just between naughty and nice, but life and death.

Dinah Liddell grew up plagued by nightmares of monsters and strange creatures only to discover they are all real. Winterland exists. Now, she’s being forced to return the Blood-Red Queen to her throne.
This time there’s nothing Jessica Winters won’t do to destroy Winterland, warping the lines of reality for Dinah and robbing her of her sanity.
With her sister, Alice, and the gang, Dinah has to fight against an opponent she never saw coming—her own mind. Rediscovering the brazen girl she once was, full of fire and passion, she will break every rule to save those she loves.
But as usual in this mad, mad place, nothing is what it seems, and those she trusted will betray her.
In freeing one beast, Dinah sacrifices another. A monster who will be used to help bring down Winterland once and for all.
The whole Winterland gang is in a fight for their lives, and as the war between naughty and nice bleeds the ground red, they find there is more to Jessica’s plan than to take Winterland.
When a beauty breaks, the beast will fall, and down will go Winterland…Santa and all.

Alice in Wonderland meets Beauty and the Beast with a holiday twist! Don’t miss this final installation in this mad, twisted series. You poke the monster…you get the beast.

HOLY TINSEL! Son of a nutcracker this book was so much muchness.

I am sad to see the series end it’s going to be on my re read tbr for sure. Going to read it just in time for Christmas.

I love this world that Stacey was able to create with Alice in Wonderland but with the twist of Christmas and a dark and steamy twist

New York Times bestselling author Kristen Proby returns to tales beyond the natural and normal with her brand-new, captivating paranormal romance series that is sure to capture your heart and make you believe in magic.

Returning to her beloved home of Salem after a trip away, Lucy Finch can’t shake the feeling of anxiety that suddenly plagues her. Nor can she shrug off her third eye’s urging that she has a mission she must undertake—a secret she must uncover.

As a green witch, Lucy has always felt strongest and the most at home in the forest, surrounded by nature. But when a disturbing dream wakes her and sends her fleeing into the woods, she isn’t prepared for what she finds. She expected her element. Perhaps a message from spirit. She didn’t expect to cross paths with a sexy-as-sin man, straight out of a movie scene.

Jonas Morley isn’t like the other residents of Hallows End. He knows the town’s secrets, as well as Salem’s, and it has been his honor and duty to protect them for as long as he can remember. But the gorgeous witch who graces the town’s hidden border shakes him and makes him second-guess his directive. She calls to him like no other. But can he save his home and those under his care and still make her his? Or will their union mean danger and destruction for not only them but also those who live within the town’s borders?

Curses don’t discriminate, and the curse of the blood moon is the most determined and dangerous of all.

Hallows End is the first book in the Curse of the Blood Moon Series.

This was a phenomenal PNR. I’m sorry what now? from the very beginning, I knew that this was going to be something special because I’d read other books by her. This was on a whole different level, I was on the edge of my seat, following Lucy and Jonas getting to see if they were going to be able to have their relationship work and be able to break the curse that Jonas has. This is one of the easiest 5+ star book and a Top read of 2022.

I’M A BEAST.
UNTAMED.
WILD.

I have no need for a mate, much less a witch. Her kind is untrustworthy and cruel, yet this one beckons me and the pull is near volatile. My wolf thirsts for her pinned beneath us while my teeth break flesh—mark her as ours.

Rejecting her is right, but at what cost?

It’s the first time the animal and I are at odds. A KING does not bend the knee.

Yet this is a simmering thirst I’ve fought to keep locked away, it doesn’t get to come out and play often, but I do enjoy the moments when I let go of the reins. Each time we meet, I crave more. Each time she gives me her back while walking away, the walls I’ve erected in her name break until what’s left is wrapped around her slim finger.

I am her rage. She is my goddess.

Together they create what I am, a vengeful animal determined to protect what’s mine.

This is a PNR that is packed with all the twists that turn that you can imagine. It’s fated mates, dark, twisted and full of suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
