After a rocky start to my freshman year at BCU, I was confident the threat was gone.

The murders ended, and my name was cleared. All the while, three unsuspecting men took me by surprise…

Ridge, my stalker turned lover.

Maddox, prince charming who swept me off my feet.

And Lev, my villain who climbed out of the black hole he’d been living in, showing me a version of himself no one thought they’d ever see again.

Then everything changed.

Campus Alert: Shelter in place. Homicide suspect at large.

That suspect…it’s me.

I’m not innocent by any means, but I didn’t commit the crimes I’m being accused of. Someone is out to get me, and it’s apparent they’ll go to depths unimaginable to ensure my demise.

But I was born a survivor, and I’ll rise from the ashes, even if it means I have to burn first.

This was the perfect title to the end. This one picks up where the second one ends and WOW. This had me chomping at the bit trying to figure out what was going to happen then I would get smacked with a curveball and some insane secrets. From the beginning Riley, Maddox, Lev and Ridge have been on a crazy trip and getting all the questions answered that I had. Rachel is becoming one of my new favourite authors. This is now one of my favourite series.

Four years ago, I betrayed his trust.
He retaliated by breaking my heart.

Adam Ryan had secrets.
The kind better off where they belonged.
Buried.

As an urban explorer, I’m not afraid of a little trouble.
But when I venture to the one place Adam forbade me from, I get more than I bargained for.

Him and his friends.
Along with their threats.
Their violence.
And their lust.

Adam might claim to still hate me.
What he hates more?
That his friends want me, too.
But they’re not the only threat to my existence.
Someone else is after me.
Someone who knows Adam’s secrets as well as they know mine.

I could not put this book down, I was hooked right from the first chapter. The feelings that I had while reading this were intense, I felt as though I was in the book myself, It was incredible. This is a dark second chance romance that is a get start to a new series that I can’t wait to read.

From the author of Warrior Blue comes an emotional, gritty story about redemption, love, and an antihero with a desperation to achieve his lifelong dream – to be a good man.

Are you ready for redemption?

My name is Soldier, but I was never meant to be a hero.

From the moment I was born, I was looked at as a beacon of hope, a guiding light—a savior. But that type of pressure can drive a man to desperation, to do things he shouldn’t, and in my case, that’s exactly what happened.

All I ever wanted to be was a good person, someone my grandparents could be proud of, but for a long time, I couldn’t find the strength to be proud of myself.

I paid the price.
I did my time.
Yet … somehow, I got lucky.

I was given a second chance to do better, to be the man I always believed I could be. And after finding the love I never knew I deserved, I’m starting to wonder if there’s still room for me to be a hero after all …

I have read a few books by this author, and I have to say that this one truly captivated me on another level. Soldier, a character known for having the odds stacked against him, seemed destined for a life of trouble. However, as you peel back the layers of his story and truly get to know him, you realize that he is so much more than his reputation suggests. Amidst the chaos of his life, Soldier finds solace in his connection with Rain who sees beyond the surface and understands him. Rain, who has a son named Noah who was just adorable, becomes a beacon of hope in Soldier’s life, offering him a chance at redemption, love, a fresh start and more. Watching the journey of their relationship is nothing short of extraordinary. The book not only explores the tragic life of Soldier but also his journey to acceptance, friendship, loyalty, and love. This is raw and gritty just showing the importance of empathy and understanding. One aspect that stood out to me was Soldier’s friendship with Harry. Despite their differences and how their friendship started, Harry remained a source of support and strength for Soldier, proving that even in the darkest times in your life there’s always that one person that will be there for you. It is a tale of resilience, transformation, and the power of human connection. As I followed Soldier’s journey, I couldn’t help but feel a whirlwind of emotions, from heartache to hope, making this an unforgettable read.

I met the devil when I was fourteen years old.

Just a kid himself, he was hellbent on making me miserable.

By fifteen I hated him.

When I was sixteen, I moved as far away as I could.

Since I’ve left, my life has been simple—peaceful and still.

I had no intention of ever returning to Skull Creek.

Until tragedy struck and I was called back.

It’s been two years since I saw my step-brother.

I hoped he had changed.

But the devil is still the same.

He’s arrogant and ruthless.

Rules the town with an iron fist.

Where he walks, crowds part.

Now his blame is set on me, along with his dark orbs of hate.

It’s time to show him I’m not the same girl I was back then.

If he pushes, I’ll push harder.

Where I bend, he will break.

As long as he doesn’t find my weakness, I can survive this.

Even if my weakness has become the devil himself.

From the first moment they met Blaise made Penny’s life hell because they were now stepbrother and sister.
In the beginning of the book, I wasn’t a fan of Blaise because he was just treating Penny so horribly and even got the whole school to hate her. Blaise is pissed that his mom left and married another woman, Penny’s life gets rocked and she escape’s Skull Creek but due to a family emergency she must head back home its only a weekend how bad can it be?
When she returns home, she is determined to prove to her bullies that she’s not the same as she was back then. I loved seeing her growth though the book and getting her confidence back and Blaise getting to his senses to realize how he felt about Penny.
This was a book was intense packed with twists and turns that are filled with love, hate and so much more.

Raquel

I live my life by one rule: fight to survive.

I don’t like people; I don’t like my job, and I definitely do not like the broody man I’m interviewing.

I’ve built up these walls to keep me safe, Sean’s presence in my world would only complicate things.

He wouldn’t know what to do with me if I came with an instruction manual–because women like me don’t get the happily ever after.

He might just be the one to break the mirror of my fragile identity.

And if I’m not careful? I’ll let him.

Sean

I live my life by one rule: family is everything.

I do this for the money; I don’t care about flipping houses, and I don’t like being interrogated about it by this wannabe Hemingway.

But I can’t deny my immediate attraction towards her, it fills my mind with what if’s–and I only just met her.

Raquel doesn’t know what she wants, but I know what she needs.

I’m ready to give her it all.

Even if she needs to hate me first.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and wow, it was a crazy ride that’s for sure.
Raquel and Sean have this complicated relationship but at the same time it’s a beautiful mess.
Sean is the only male in his family and due to that he is trying to fulfill all of the responsibilities that are expected of him, and because of that he sacrificed his own dreams. One of the things that I enjoyed was how determined he was to prove to Raquel that is capable of love and be able to accept it.
Raquel is someone that is closed off and covers her feelings with anger because she wants to keep people away. I loved her sarcasm that she has, kept me laughing.
This book is packed with all the emotions that you would expect from a slow burn romance.
