Summary:

The students at Lizzie’s high school are notoriously terrible at breakups. Forget awkward conversations—they’re dumping each other via text. Inspired by the terrible breakups around her, sixteen-year-old Lizzie, strapped for cash and itching to go on the school’s band trip to NYC, teams up with her best friend, Willa, to create a genius business: personalized gift baskets—breakup baskets—sent from dumper to dumpee. The Goodbye Girls operate in secret, and business is booming. But it’s not long before someone begins sabotaging The Goodbye Girls, sending impossibly cruel baskets to seemingly random targets, undermining everything Lizzie and Willa have built and jeopardizing their anonymity. Soon family, friendship, and a budding romance are on the line. Will Lizzie end up saying goodbye to the business for good?

My Thoughts:

I really wanted to like this book. The synopsis of it sounded so good, I haven’t read or heard of any like it, that’s why I was so interested in it.

While reading this book, Lizzie was the best part of it although maybe a little immature at times. Willa was rather annoying, because she was always getting after Lizzie about certain things were imo she had no right to do. Also going after Lizzie’s older sister Trisha I mean she’s not the nicest person ever but I still don’t think that Willa should have said the things she said. It was really hard for me to like her.

I did like that here was a mystery to who was sending the mysterious breakup baskets.

Not sure what else to say other than… this book wasn’t for me. I really did want to like it, just felt like something was lacking.

Home has become a battle ground between his Mum’s acceptance and his Dad’s disapproval. Ben desperately seeks his father’s approval, and wants to be like a regular twelve-year-old. But he doesn’t want to break free from his spirit friend, Abby, who shows up when he is in danger or about to do something wrong. She somehow guides him and he has grown very fond of her. Will Ben’s father accept his son’s psychic gifts? Can he persuade his father that spirits are real and not just hallucinations? And who exactly is Abby? A Middle Grade story about a boy who sees spirits

My Thoughts:

This book was interesting, it kinda reminded me of the Sixth Sense in a way.

The characters in this book I know were kids, but something didn’t fit for me, I’m not sure what it was. It could have been the way the characters were portrayed, way it was written, maybe a little of both? I’m un sure. I did want to be able to like this book because the synopsis of it did seem promising.

Don’t get me wrong, this is a unique story but it just isn’t one that I enjoyed. Maybe you will?

Blurb:
Breck
My name is Brecklyn Brannon, and I’m not who I claim to be.

A year ago, I packed up my promising life in the city for a man I saw only
once.
Accepting a temporary job with Cade and four blazing hot veterans should have
been my way in.
Except, Cade acts like he would rather be tortured than speak to me.
He can resist all he wants, but I made a promise that I intend to keep.
Even if it costs me everything.
Cade
I’ve watched her for over a year.
There’s something about her that seems familiar… but now that she’s living
here for two weeks, I could care less what it is.
I just want her gone.
Breck is temptation personified, and some lines can’t be crossed.
I’m Major Cade Jameson, and I made a promise, too.
One that I can’t break.
No matter how hard it gets.
EXCERPT:
Cade Jameson has entered the building, and holy alien babies, he’s wearing a
motherfucking tank top with his dress shirt hanging open. Those delicious pecs
toy with my emotions as they flex underneath the snug fabric, taunting me with
ridiculous requests like: Bite me, Breck.
Crazy, right?
But Cade has some serious voodoo going on because I take an unintended step
in his direction when he snaps, “Are you seriously getting him drunk, Hayes?”
Cade charges over to the two drunks and snatches the bottle of liquor from the
table before turning and pouring it down the sink.

“Aw! Come on, Major. I was just having a little fun with him. He had some
nerves.”
Cade mumbles something low that sounds a lot like stupid motherfuckers.
“Cade.” Theo’s glassy eyes meet mine like he just realized I was here. And
then he smirks at me. “Jameson,” he mutters.
“Don’t talk to me right now, Von Bremen. Commander is going to be fucking
pissed that you’re drunk two hours before the wedding.”
“Jameson.”
Shoulders hunched, Cade sighs at the sink before straightening and walking to
the table, sliding a glass of water in front of Theo. “Drink all of it.”
Theo laughs at the glass of water and tries to lay his head down on the table.
“No, no, no. Stay upright,” Cade scolds, his tone laced with exasperation,
pulling him up in the chair by his shoulders and then glaring at Hayes. “This is
your mess. Sober his ass up right now.”
“Jameson.”
Cade loses his temper, yelling into the kitchen with the voice of a Marine.
“What, Theo?”
Silence.
You could hear a mouse burp in China. That’s how quiet it is in this kitchen
until Theo snorts and points to me.
“Your jelly girl is behind you.”

Summary:

The day Raquel has been dreading for months has finally arrived. Sasha, her best friend in the whole world — the best friend in the whole world — has died of cancer. Raquel can’t imagine life without her. She’s overwhelmed and brokenhearted.

And then a letter from Sasha arrives. Has she somehow found a way to communicate from the afterlife?

In fact, Sasha has planned an elaborate scavenger hunt for Raquel, and when she follows the instructions to return to Sasha’s grave, a mysterious stranger with striking eyes is waiting for her. There’s a secret attached to this boy that only Sasha—and now Raquel—knows.

This boy, Elijah, might be just what Raquel needs to move on from her terrible loss. But can Raquel remain true to herself while also honoring her friend’s final wish?

My Thoughts:

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I absolutely loved this book. Raquel’s best friend is dying of cancer, they spend the most the time they have together . Sasha does die fairly quickly in the story but this book is more about letting us know they there is more to life after someone that we love passes.

When Sasha passes she leaves her bff one final gift, a series of things to do to help Raquel and Elijah deal wither her passing better by going on adventures. I wish that everyone would be able to experience that with there loved ones

This story was so heartfelt. You start the book with the smile on your face and as you read you feel all these different emotions, like you’re the one that lost there best friend. You see a story of love, loss, friendship and even romance.

The first few chapters were truly heart wrenching. I did get misty eyes reading it.

If you’re a lover of The Fault in Our Stars then I think you should check this book out.

Summary:

Jade Fulton and Ethan Garrett are opposites in every sense of the word. Ethan is an all-American poster boy—a star athlete dating the most popular girl in school and a devout Christian. Jade keeps mostly to herself. She abhors joining “things,” hates everyone at their high school except her best friend, Gia, and considers herself agnostic.

When Ethan and Jade find themselves locked in an aerobics room overnight, their confinement forces them to push past the labels they’ve given each other. Jock. Loner. Jesus freak. Skeptic. Golden boy. Intellectual. Amid hours of arguing, philosophizing, and silly game playing, Ethan and Jade learn there’s a lot more to the other person than meets the eye.

After that night, life returns to normal and each goes back to their regular lives. Still, neither one can shake the unexpected bond they formed and they can’t help but question what they’ve been taught to believe, who they want to be, and where their hearts truly lie.

My Thoughts:

I’m conflicted on this book and let me tell you why. When I read then synopsis I knew that there was going to be some religious talk about the book. The thing that got me more interested was that Jade and Ethan get locked in a closet because they were getting robbed. That sounds interesting right? The plot seemed to be promising. Everything was good and dandy with the story until they get rescued.

I DNF this at 15%. I wanted to like this book but i just could’t get into it.
