Summary:

Tell the truth. Or face the consequences.

Clue meets Riverdale in this page-turning thriller that exposes the lies five teens tell about a deadly night one year ago.

One year ago, there was a party.
At the party, someone died.
Five teens each played a part and up until now, no one has told the truth.

But tonight, the five survivors arrive at an isolated mansion in the hills, expecting to compete in a contest with a $50,000 grand prize. Of course…some things are too good to be true. They were each so desperate for the prize, they didn’t question the odd, rather exclusive invitation until it was too late.

Now, they realize they’ve been lured together by a person bent on revenge, a person who will stop at nothing to uncover what actually happened on that deadly night, one year ago.

Five arrived, but not all can leave. Will the truth set them free?
Or will their lies destroy them all?

My Thoughts:

When I first saw that this was going to be like one of my favourite games when I was younger and now one of my new favourite tv shows, I also got the feeling that it was a little like Pretty Little Liars. I knew that I had to read this and see how it was going to be able to put it all together.

There is a group of 5 people that come together at a Murder Mystery Party and they must solve a mystery and the one that gets the right answer gets 50,000 dollars. Which sounds like a great story right? I thought so too but there was something lacking.

I am feeling indifferent on this because I want to like this but there was lacking for me. The whole idea for the story is an amazing one but reading it I just didn’t feel the connection that needs to happen being the reader. There was a lot of potential that could have happened, but it didn’t.

Rating: 4/5

Summary:

The hollow was the perfect place to hide.

Or so Free’s dad thought. His plan: flee California with Free’s five-year-old brother illegally in tow, hide out in the mountains of West Virginia, make fast cash during ginseng season, then escape to a nicer place where the law can’t find them. Free isn’t thrilled about living in a holler alongside drug dealers and thieves, but she’s willing to do whatever it takes to keep her family safe. Unfortunately, with their father disappearing into the woods with increasing frequency, Free and her brother exist largely alone. Until their neighbor Cole appears with lots of questions.

Cole’s spent his entire life in the holler—and his entire life working out a way to leave his druggie mother and incarcerated brother. As the editor of the school newspaper, he’s an expert at getting to the bottom of a story, and he’s determined to crack Free—who seems un-crack-able.

When the family she was desperate to protect is ripped apart, Free turns to Cole for help, the only person willing. But while her plan escalates, Free can’t deny the pull she feels toward the boy with too many questions—and who holds just as many secrets. As they become closer, she finds that Cole might need her help as much as she needs his.

My Thoughts:

 This book was beautifully heartbreaking

This book comes in two POV’s Cole’s and Freedom. It took me till about 20% to get into the book but once I did I wasn’t able to put it down. We meet Free who meets Cole while she’s working at the grocery store. She lives with her dad and brother in a shack that doesn’t have electricity. (I think will all need to do that at some point to just be able to unplug from the world) Cole is a senior in high school and he doesn’t have the greatest home life with this mom being on drugs, his dad is in jail and his sister has a child of his own.

This was a well written coming of age story. There were times where I was laughing, crying, laughing and crying again. The relationship that Cole and Freedom develop is bitter sweet.

This is one that I defiantly think that you all should check out and read for yourself.

Rating:  4.75/5

Summary:

Remington Badd…he’s just as big, just as BADD, just as foul-mouthed and filthy-minded as his brother Roman. But under that rough and wild exterior lies a secret.

Juneau Isaac, a Yup’ik Inuit, is the daughter of a hiking guide father and a mother who creates works of art and sells it to the tourists. The first to go to college—the first to leave her family’s ancestral home near Ketchikan—Juneau feels a deep sense of obligation to her family, to ignore the real passion that beats inside her.

A roughneck smokejumper with an artist’s soul hidden deep inside. An artist living a false life, harboring secrets and fostering forbidden passions.

Can these two find their way to living their truths while navigating the tumultuous waters of a whirlwind romance? In a battle between familial obligation and secret dreams, will there be room for love—not to mention the wild intensity of uncontrollable lust—in these closed-off hearts?

My Thoughts:

Jasinda Wilder has done it again. This is the tenth book in the Badd brother’s series and just keeps getting better and better. I loved how previous characters were in the series. I think it gives it a more homey feel to it.

Rem is another one of the Triplets. He was a smoke jumper before moving to Alaska with his brothers to open a bar named Badd Kitty Saloon. Ironically being close to his cousin’s family bar. Rem doesn’t want to be someone that owns a bar he wants to go off and do his own thing and become a tattoo artist.

Juneau is the first in her family to go to collage. She works hard at a job that she doesn’t really like and when she meets Rem that’s when everything changes, and their chemistry just spills off the page. I also loved how Jasinda incorporated Juneau talents and family heritage.

I was able to read this book in one sitting. It kept me up till the wee hours in the morning because I wanted to know how this story was going to end. I was truly captured by everything that happened in the book. I loved how at the end we get sneak peaks into the next book in the series. I’m dying to know what happens with Ramsey and Izzy.

Summary:

Aaron O’Donovan is a rational man prone to reflection, used to being proactive and finding a solution for every problem. He’s lived these last few years taking care of his sister, and running a pub that he owns with his friends, having set aside his passion for music. Aaron is a constant presence in the lives of the people who surround him, a rock you can count on; but Aaron is a lonely man who has given up on his own ambitions, and who has a difficult past behind him. His experiences have made him cynical, unable to believe in anything, especially in love.

Ciara Doyle works as a tourist guide as she finishes her studies in Art History. She’s young and full of life. Her world is made up of light, color and limitless dreams. She believes in people, in love and living happily ever after, even if there’s only space for one man in her heart – the only man she shouldn’t want.

Aaron has known Ciara since she was a child and has always thought of her like a sister: he’s seen her grow up before his eyes, to become a beautiful sexy woman who is both stubborn and proud. A woman who knows what she wants. And Ciara wants Aaron.

Aaron tries to resist her but the passion between them explodes, forcing him to give in and start wanting something that he has denied himself for years. However, giving in to her would mean the end of her dreams, because Aaron isn’t able to love and will never be the Prince Charming of her fairy tale.

My Thoughts:

Oh my goodness, I don’t even know where to begin with this one. My emotions are all over the place. Aaron broke my heart in this one because everyone of his friends has someone in there life and he feels like he is getting left behind. So over the years he has put up this wall so that he wouldn’t have to deal with all these different emotions, until one night on a roof top when Ciara comes to his aid.

In the previous books Aaron had been the rock, the one that always gave the much needed advice to his friends when they needed it or not. Aaron is also fighting his inner thoughts on how he shouldn’t be with anyone, I loved his character development and how his friends are the ones that are helping him with advice.

I loved Ciara an how she was able to help Aaron when he needed it. ( I don’t want to spoil why. ) She is the perfect match for him and I couldn’t see him with anyone else but Ciara. When I read the previous books I always wondered why Aaron was never with anyone. I’m so happy that after all the years of knowing her they ended up together.

This is such a wonderful series, I think you should all check it out.

Wynn has saved her life so many times, she can’t leave him trapped. But doing the right thing will mean risking death or worse—being cast out of her dream job.

For this witch, justice might not be as sweet as advertised.

My Thoughts:

When I saw the synopsis of the book and how it was related to Hex Hall I wanted to give this one a go. I also found out that this was the second in the series sigh lol, Any who, onto my review.

There are some things that did leave me asking questions because I didn’t read the first one. Aside from that I loved how Anise was paying attention to people and trying to figure out ways to help them. She does struggle with baking which was a little disheartening because she lives for it.

I loved the growth that the characters had in the book, they all played a roll in helping Anise.

This book was a light and quick read. I was able to finish this in one sitting, its packed with lots of magical beings this book would be perfect for the Halloween season.

My review is a little “off” I think because I haven’t read the first one to get to know the characters as well as I should. This one was a pretty good read.
