Summary:

My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.

But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.

Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.

My thoughts:

I decided to read this book before the movie came out because I wanted to get the extra things that they would forget. (Hate when that happens)

This book follows a girl named Madeline who is diagnosed with a rare disease called SCID. With having this she is unable to go outside or touch people because she can get seriously sick. Everything is going great until a boy named Oliver moves in next door.

The relationship between Maddy and Olly is almost perfect. Olly brings Maddy out of her shell that she lives in and they take a tip to Hawaii and that’s just crazy because she’s seriously sick. Or so she thinks.

Maddy finds out that her mom lied about her being sick because she wanted to keep her safe after what happened to her dad and brother.

One of my favorite quotes is “Life is a gift, don’t forget to life it.
