I read this book when it first came out and I absolutely loved it. I kind of thought that this was going to be another Twilight type book but I was completely wrong. With Swear finally coming out I thought that I would re-read the series. This is also my first book that I have read by Amanda Hocking and it was fantastic. The connection that happens between Alice, Peter and Jack is undeniable. I thought the take that Amanda has on vampires was a great twist. She has it so that the sun doesn’t burn them but it just makes them tired when they go out. With Stephanie that has them Sparkle that was just a joke imo.
Onward with Alice, she’s 17years old girl who has a best friend named Jane and she will sleep with anything and anyone. Alice is someone who jut thinks of life as eh. They go clubbing all the time even if Alice doesn’t want to she still goes. Alice also has a younger brother named Milo who is 14 years old. Milo and Alice basically live alone because their mother is always gone to work.
One night when Alice and Jane were leaving the club they get cornered in a parking garage by some men who were going to rape them. Then suddenly Jack comes out of nowhere and saves the day and takes them to get coffee.
Jack is an amazing guy. He’s nice, realistic and Handsome! Lol He’s also been a vampire for about 16 years. Mae who is the sweetest woman that you would ever meet I think she’s 80. Ezra who is 300 years old and Married to Mae an alas Peter who is 200 maybe 300? Somewhere in there anyway.
Peter is so misunderstood. He’s really and amazing guy that has this huge wall up just to protect himself from getting hurt again. He was in love with a woman named Elise and she died. Peter was so hurt by that he doesn’t like to talk about it all to anyone because he relives the memories that he tries so hard to forget.
One thing that I must say is that I didn’t really like the fact that Alice was willing to toss her life away to become a vampire just so that she could be with Jack and peter forever. I’m glad that they said no to her.
I give this book 4.5/5 stars.
